Note: Now TSE Release Note is merged into HP-UX Release Note. For the new release information of TSE after HP-UX 11i, see "HP-UX Release Note" stored in /usr/share/doc directory. For information of previous TSE releases, see the following description. ====================================================================== Traditional Chinese System Environment A.02.60 Release Notes Preface This document provides the following information: Chapter 1: New and Changed Features Chapter 2: Installing/Updating Your System Chapter 3: Related Documentation Chapter 4: Problem Description and Fixes Chapter 5: Obsolescence Plan at Next Release Chapter 1: New and Changed Features The Traditional Chinese System Environment (TSE A.02.60) product includes enhancements to the system and tools. This chapter summarizes these new features. The Traditional Chinese System Environment (TSE A.02.60) is released with HP-UX 11.00 or later. To confirm the version of TSE, execute the following command: $ /usr/sbin/swlist -l product Asian-Core Asian-Core A.02.60 Asian Core Traditional Chinese System Environment(A.02.60) ================================================== New Features ---------------- o Traditional Chinese Font DIMM support By installing an optional Traditional Chinese Font DIMM (Product No. C4292A) on HP LaserJet 4000(N)/4500(N)/5000(N)/8000(N)/8100N printers, you can print the Traditional Chinese text with TrueType font. When you use Traditional Chinese TrueType font, you have to configure a printer with PCL5.asian model file on LP Spooler, or if you are configuring HPDPS then you have to choose the 2BPCL5.asx Printer-Model. Traditional Chinese System Environment(A.02.50.01) ================================================== New Features ---------------- o Printer * Following printers are supported on both LP Spooler and HPDPS. You can print the Asian plain text file on these printers by configuring the printer using specified Model File on LP Spooler or Printer Model on HPDPS. Printer LP Model File HPDPS Printer Model Name ======================================================================== HP LaserJet 4000(N) PCL5.nloo PCL5.asx HP LaserJet 5000(N) PCL5.nloo PCL5.asx HP LaserJet 8000(N) PCL5.nloo PCL5.asx * HPDPS common printer model directory Provide new printer model directory, PCL4.asx, PCL5.asx and ESCP.asx for future printer support. User can use these model directory as "model" or "sample" implementation of a printer model directory. User can copy these sample printer model directory to a directory under /var/opt/pd/lib/model with an appropriate name and customize it to be suited for user's own printer. NOTE: CONFIGURING PHYSICAL PRINTER OBJECT HPDPS has a capability which selects a appropriate printer that supports the attributes of the job. This is done by comparing the job attributes with the attributes of the physical printer object. To make this job-validation process work correctly, user have to set the attributes of the physical printer object to correctly reflect how the printer-device is currently configured. HPDPS-supplied printer models provide user with just default attributes. These default attributes probably do not match the current configuration of the printer device. For example, such as the media that are currently loaded, whether double-sided printing unit is installed or how many trays are installed, these things are different per user's setting. Consequently, to configure physical printer object correctly, user has to re-assign the physical printer attributes after creating the physical printer object with "pdset" command or has to create customized printer model that reflects the capabilities of the user's own printer device and configure the physical printer object using the customized printer model. o X Print Server TSE A.02.50.01 support X Print Server. CDE use X Print Server to print screen of window. If you want to know the detail of X Print Server, refer "Technical Print Service System Administrator's Guide" document (file location: "/usr/share/doc/TechPrtServ/C/tpsGuide.pcl"). The following steps of X Print Server configuration describes easily: 1. Locale **IMPORTANT** To configure, run, and test X Print Server correctly, the same LANG environment must be specified on these steps. For example, in C locale you configured X Print Server by SAM, this configured X Print Server run only in C locale, not in the other locale. If you run CDE in zh_TW.big5 locale, please confirm that locale on setup of X Print Server is zh_TW.big5. zh_TW.ccdc and zh_TW.eucTW are also available. 2 Configuration X Print Server X Print Server configuration is done by sam(1M). The following information are needed. These information are available while executing sam(1M). - Hostname - Display number Operate sam(1M) as follow to configure X Print Server: (Note: login as superuser) 1) Execute sam (1M) "# /usr/sbin/sam" 2) Select "Printers and Plotter" 3) Select "Print Server Configuration" 4) Select "Create ..." 5) Select "Hostname" and "Display number" (Note: Don't use 0 as Display number.) To confirm the configuration of X Print Server, run the following command: # tpsconfig -l hostname: 3. Register Printer Add the logical printer names used on lp spooler or HP DPS in /etc/X11/Xprinters files. is Display number of X Print server. Assume pcl5 is already registered as logical printer name. When the display number is 6, add the following line into the /etc/X11/X6printers: Printer pcl5 4. Specify Printer Model Add the registered printer model into /etc/X11/C/print/attributes/printer using /usr/sbin/tpsedit command. /usr/sbin/tpsshowmodel command show the available model as follows: # /usr/sbin/tpsshowmodel -display hostname: -all . . . HPLJ5Si_5SiMX Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 5Si/5SiMX (PCL) . . # As follows, add the printer model files. # DISPLAY=hostname: /usr/sbin/tpsedit /etc/X11/C/print/attributes/printer pcl5.xp-model-identifier: HPLJ5Si_5SiMX 5. Set default attributes If you have need of setting some attributes, you can set in the three attribute files printer, job, document under /etc/X11/C/print/attributes directory. For example, in case of setting the command line option of lp spooler, as follows: # DISPLAY=hostname: /usr/sbin/tpsedit /etc/X11/C/print/attributes/job pcl5.xp-spooler-command-options: -onb For detail, see the document about X Print Server. 6. Restart X Print Server In order to reflect above configuration and setup, you must execute or make X Print Server re-start using sam(1M) command or on shell as follows: # /usr/bin/X11/X : -deferglyphs 16 -XpFile /etc/X11/Xprinters & (Note: is display number) or # tpsconfig -s hostname: NOTE: The supported printer is only PCL printer on TSE. Traditional Chinese System Environment(A.02.50) =============================================== Changed Features ---------------- o dtimsstart and ximsstart ximsstart is replaced with dtimsstart on HP-UX 11.0 CDE.
